Rugilė Juknevičiūtė was born in Vilnius, 2004. She started studying in cello class in National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art under teacher Tatjana Kuc in 2011. Since 2013 Rugilė studies under teacher Domas Jakštas. Since 2018 she studies also under prof. I. Monighetti.

Competitions: Rugilė Juknevičiūtė is the prize winner of the National Balys Dvarionas Competition, J. Urba Republican String Competition, Grand Prix winner of Kęstutis Ivaškevičius String Competition (Lithuania). She took the 1st place in the International Alexander Glazunov Competition in Paris (France). Rugilė also got the 1st prize and 3 special prizes in the Kazimierz Wilkomirski International Youth Cello Competition (Poland). As a chamber music player she is Grand Prix winner in the International Chamber Ensemble Competition “Spring Sonata” and International Chamber Music Competition “Musica Brillante”.

Concerts in Lithuania and abroad: The young cellist frequently performs in city halls and churches of various European countries. She has played concerts Lithuania prestigious halls: National Lithuania Philharmonic Hall, Klaipėda Concert Hall, Kaunas Philharmonic Hall, Vilnius Town Hall, Palace of the Grand Dukes, Amber Museum Church of St. Catherine, Church of St. Casimir, Grand Hall of the Academy of Sciences. Rugile had concerts in Germany: Deutsches Historiches Museum (Berlin), Neuhardenberg Church, Residenz-schloss Concert Hall (Dresden), , Düsseldorf Hochschule Concert Hall. She also performs concerts in House of the Brotherhood of Blackheads (Tallinn, Estonia), Novgorod Regional Philharmonic (Russia), Erimitage, Szamotuly Concert Hall (Poland) and other.

Concerts with orchestras: Rugilė’s first performance with an orchestra was when she was 11 years old. Now. Rugilė has already played 20 times as a soloist with such orchestras as Vilnius municipality St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Lithuania National Philharmonic, M.K. Čiurlionis School of Art Symphony Orchestra, Klaipėda Municipality Chamber Orchestra and Kaunas Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by V. Kaliūnas, M. Staškus, J. M. Jauniškis, M. Barkauskas, J. Bürgin, D. Geringas.

Chamber music: Rugilė has concerts not only as a soloist, but also as performer of various ….. ensambles member: cello quartet/quintet/octet; piano trio; piano quartet; string quartet.

Master classes: She has become a regular participant (2012 – 2018) in the international youth artist seminar “Amber Sitting Room” masterclasses: In 2017-2021 was one of selected cellists to take part in the International Cello masterclasses “Meisterschüler-Meister” in Germany, under the world-famous cellist J.Vogler. She also took place in other cello masterclasses as: “Cello Anatomy” in Klaipėda, where she learned under prof. K. Georgian, prof. P. B. Cocset, prof. J. Hasten, prof. E. Testelec; ”Fundacji Pro Cello” in Szamotuly with K. Michalik, M. Nyikos, "Gintarinė svetainė" in Palanga and "Ars Lituanica" wirh M. Ylönen. Rugilė won the opportunity to participate in one of the biggest music festivals in the world – “Dresdener Musikfestspiele - Cellomania“ master classes in Dresden with prof. I. Monighetti. Rugilė has attended masterclasses of prof. D. Geringas, prof. R.Armonas, A.Palšauskas, prof. N. Jone, prof. P.Bruns, L.Mouradian, prof. M. Dmochovski.

Foundation: Since 2018 Rugilė is scholar of The Mstislav Rostropovich Charity and Support Foundation "Support for the Children of Lithuania".She received an educational scholarship by the Lithuanian Council For Culture and also was awarded a special prize from the Polish „Pro Cello” foundation.
